Start on foot in the Old City
Baku's Old City is a natural starting point for a history-focused visit. Choose a walking route rather than moving a car between nearby stops. Allow time to read signs, take a break and find the entrance to any museum you want to visit.
Leave space for the waterfront
The Boulevard follows the Caspian waterfront. Treat it as a separate, relaxed outing rather than a quick photograph stop. Pick a manageable section for your group, bring a layer for changing conditions and plan a convenient place to finish before you set out.
Use a car when it adds flexibility
A rental car can be useful for destinations outside the centre and for onward travel. For a central sightseeing day, compare walking, public transport and a taxi with finding parking. Check your accommodation's parking arrangements before choosing when to collect a car.
Build a realistic day
Choose two main experiences and leave the rest optional. Check each attraction's official visitor information shortly before travel; opening arrangements and exhibitions can change. If travelling with children or anyone with limited mobility, ask about access rather than assuming every route is step-free.
